luxury

noun
- 1. the state of great comfort and extravagant living.
"he lived a life of luxury"
What is luxury?
I have always wanted a quilted Chanel handbag. Pined over it. Its golden leather wrapped chain, buttery lambskin body, double C logo, magnetic flap...the epitome of cool. It's been spotted on the shoulders of everyone from Alexa Chung to Kim Kardashian. But why am I so attracted to this bag? Perhaps for its longevity and pure quality. Chanel's quilted shoulder bags resale for as much as they originally sold for, if not much more. This is due, in part, not only to their carefully crafted nature, but the fact that they simply don't go out of style.
I guess you could say luxury never goes out of style either. People will always want diamonds & pearls, cashmere & fur, leather & silk. I dream of swimming in a bed of 1,800 thread count sheets, piles of goose down duvets, and mink throws in my finest lingerie. I dream of lounging pool side with a glass of Dom Perignon, my pedicure twinkling with Swarovski crystals and my pure-bred Great Danes flanking each of my sides. Perhaps one day, I will have the fortune to pull-up to one of NYC's most elite clubs in my Range Rover and step out in my Louboutin's. The luxurious and the fantastical blur together.
To me, luxury doesn't need to be fantasy. A bouquet of roses and a warm bath can be just as wonderful as a $500 facial. Yes, I still dream of opulence, but I try my best to achieve little of touches of the luxe in my day-to-day life. For example:

- Rosewater facial spritz followed by rose-hip oil warmed up in the palms of my hands
- A velvet throw pillow
- Leather bound notebooks & a nice ink pen
- French-press coffee
