The school year has started, but it's still fresh and that's how I feel about beauty items this fall.
I've always been interested in the French pharmacy/cult classic Bioderma Crealine H2O Micelle Solution, which wipes away dirt and leftover make-up for clean, bright skin. (Update: I tried the Simple Micellar Water and it does work well for cleansing and sensitive skin, but not great at removing the toughest products, i.e. waterproof eyeliner and mascara). Another cult French product, Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè, "The must have product for makeup artists, models and celebrities" claims to work as a primer, moisturizer, and make-up remover, so maybe the duo together is the dream team for make-free soft skin? Keeping on the French theme, I absolutely adore the parisian perfumer Diptyque. My favorite scent is the warm and exotic Tam Dao, a mix of Sandalwood, Cedar, Coriander, Ginger, Amber. Although, the brand is probably best know for the ever popular candle Baies, a bouquet of roses, sweetened with blackcurrant leaves.
Simplicity is key here. Calvin Klein bikini briefs are all-cotton, classic, comfortable underwear for the modern student. A grey cashmere beanie warms up the crisp autumn afternoons on campus. A name-plate necklace lends a hint of 50's school girl to any outfit (or maybe a touch of Carrie Bradshaw?). A bright white Otterbox phone case protects from accidents at Friday night parties. I can curl up in the back of the stacks with a copy of Joan Didion's Blue Nights. And speaking of, Basis Vitamin soap is a perfect face/body soap that Didion recommends in The White Album.
